Green Initiatives and Certifications
PRGMEA members actively embrace green initiatives. Many have adopted the High Index for effective energy consumption monitoring. Multiple members are LEED-certified by the US Green Building Council, demonstrating a commitment to environmental leadership. Some members lead in adopting zero discharge practices, aligned with ZDHC protocols.
Renewable Energy Adoption
Our members are embracing renewable energy, particularly solar power, bolstered by favorable policies of the Government of Pakistan. This shift towards sustainability aligns with a greener future.
Ecological Sustainability Partnership
PRGMEA partnered with Bavarian Employers’ Association (Bfz GmbH) for the Espire program. Supported by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation & Development, Espire aims to enhance Pakistan's textile industry's economic and ecological efficiency. Members participate in Bfz GmbH training programs on diverse topics, ranging from modular production to energy conservation and environment management.
Net Zero
The Decarbonization Committee of PRGMEA is actively working with its members to calculate, reduce and offset scope 1 and scope 2 carbon emissions. The Committee has also partnered with some of the premier universities of Pakistan to carry out research in this regard. Through fostering the collaboration of businesses and academia, PRGMEA aims to make the Pakistani textile sector a model for Net Zero initiatives around the world.
